No Contact Pick Up Service
The Anamosa Library & Learning Center is excited to announce, beginning June 1st, we will begin the careful process of restarting library services. On that day, we will start our Contactless Pick Up service to start checking out books, DVDs, and other physical materials. All materials currently checked out are due on June 1, so please begin to return these to the library. If you are unable to return them by this time, simply call the library and leave a message to renew.
Library staff will start taking pick up orders the week of Memorial Day. You can make your order by phone, email, Facebook Messenger, or by putting items on hold using the library’s online catalog. A tutorial for how to use our online catalog to place holds is available below and on our Facebook page. If not using the online catalog, please include the item title, author (if applicable), material type (DVD, book, etc), your contact information, and your library card number in your message. Only orders made through the online catalog can be guaranteed exact titles. To speak to a librarian in person, call the library at 319-462-2183 beginning Tuesday, May 26 through Friday, May 29 from 10 AM-3 PM. Once you have ordered materials, a library staff member will contact you to schedule a pick up time during the week of June 1.
When you arrive at your scheduled pick up time, you will find a plastic bin outside the library’s front doors. You will find your items in this bin in a plastic bag. The plastic bin will be wiped down in common contact areas after each pick up. If you arrive early and a library staff member is still outside the building, please wait in your car until they have reentered the building.
Library staff members will wear masks and gloves as they put your orders together. However, we recommend you wait 3-7 days before using library materials in your own home. Some viruses have been found on plastics several days after handling. Checkout periods will be lengthened to reflect this, 2 weeks for DVDs and 4 weeks for books. Returned materials will be placed in quarantine for 7 days in the library in an effort to kill any lingering virus.
The library building itself will remain closed to the public as we continue to make safety modifications and gather the necessary cleaning supplies and safety gear we need to keep you and our staff as safe as possible.
