Most PC owners know that when the darn thing starts misbehaving and acting wonky, a simple restart (reboot) of their machine often sets things right.
The same holds true with any tech gadget, including iPads, tablets, and smartphones. But most folks don't know how to really restart their device. They think that once they hit the power button, and the screen goes dark, the device is off.
To the contrary, the device is merely sleeping. Here's the technique for really shutting it down, and applies to iPads, Nooks, and Kindles - most portable devices actually.
Press AND HOLD the power button and hold until a message pops up, asking if you want to power off. Follow the instruction to confirm your intention and the screen should go dark.
NOW your device is truly shut down.
To turn on again, press AND HOLD the power button until you see signs of life. And there's a 50-50 chance that the problem you were having will be no more. If the problem is fixed, you can thank Loretta, who has helped many a patron with this little fix.
And since a picture (or video) is worth a thousand words, here's a short video of the 50-50 gal herself, Loretta, demonstrating The Technique.
